The second of Nvidia’s 40 Series Super releases, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is the card to opt for genuine 4K gaming across all but the most demanding of titles. It’s the pick for anyone wanting true middle of the pack performance, and it’s probably our pick of the new Nvidia stack too. But what’s the best RTX 4070 Ti Super? Well, in this guide we’ll share our view.

How we picked the best RTX 4070 Ti Super

To pick the best RTX 4070 Ti Super cards, we look at the cards available and use our expertise to pick the very best options. We’ve built and upgraded plenty of PCs, so using our familiarity with partner features – and a knowledge of what actually adds value – we’ve picked the options we’d go for ourselves. In fact, as we’re looking for our own 4070 Ti Super card (I am, Kevin) to take advantage of this guide contains a very real consideration of what we’d go for, and an avoidance of what we’d not go for.

For example, although our RTX 4070 Ti Super review looked specifically at Asus’ ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti Super OC, that card doesn’t make the list. At close to $1,000 it’s well beyond what we’d consider sensible for a 4070 Ti Super when the MSRP is £$799. There’s paying a premium and then there’s just too expensive. However, our review does illustrate in depth exactly what makes the Ti Super worth paying for above the 4070 Ti, or the 4070 Super – and you can find out exactly how we test GPUs here. Given that Nvidia felt the need to launch a Super series, it does suggest that the mark was maybe missed with the original lineup: with the 4070 Ti Super, we’ve got a range of refreshed specs that create a card much more capable of gaming at the heights of 4K. You’re looking at 8,448 CUDA Cores, 16GB GDDR6X, and a bandwidth of 672 GB/s and 256-bit bus (compared to 504.2 GB/s and 192-bit in the original card). To brush up on your knowledge of this before you make your investment, we’ve compared the RTX 4070 Ti Super vs RTX 4070 Ti.

It sits comfortably between the 4070 and the 4080, and overall this got the RTX 4070 Ti high praise in our review. But when it comes to picking the best model, it’s all about looking at the specific nuances offered across brands, and choosing which one is the most suitable for your rig overall. The four cards we’ve opted for are on the spectrum of value to performance, so you can decide where your needs are best met: we’ve also made sure to meet a range of desirable features such as overclocking, optimized cooling, and aesthetics.

Best Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card – our top picks

Best RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU
01
  • Asus TUF Gaming Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card with triple fans.
Specifications
  • GPU: AD103
  • CUDA cores: 8,448
  • VRAM: 16GB GDDR6X
  • Bandwidth: 672.3 GB/s
  • Memory bus width: 256-bit
  • Base clock speed: 2340 MHz
  • Boost clock speed: 2640 MHz
Reasons to Buy
  • Bang on MSRP at $849, so excellent value for money
  •  Smart and unfussy design that’s still been optimized for cooling efficiency
  •  RGB lighting on the shroud adds a tasteful splash of color
Reasons to Avoid
  • Lacks extra features, and to be honest looks a little boring
  •  Minimal overclock, so you’re capped at a max of 2670 MHz

Our best RTX 4070 Ti Super card pick is the Asus TUF Gaming Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super. There’s a simple reason for this and essentially it’s value. Even though graphics card prices keep going up, $799 isn’t a small amount of money. So to pick up a card that is exactly the recommended price for the stock performance – especially when that performance is improved vs the regular Ti – just wins in our book. We’d opt fr this card honestly.

There are other considerations of course. We’d forego RGB and additional style points to opt for this TUF option. Having said that it’s not a bad-looking card if you’re down with understated visuals and machinery-inspired stylings. On that note, the card features a sturdy metal exoskeleton which Asus says provides vents for reliable cooling. Plus, being an Asus card it comes with the manufacturer’s triple Axial Tech fans that offer an alternating spin push on air flowing across the card. It’s a tried and tested cooling solution, and one we’d be happy with in our own system – which is true of the card overall!

BEST DESIGNED RTX 4070 TI SUPER
02
  • ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Trinity Black Edition triple-fan graphics card on a white background.
Reasons to Buy
  • Smooth, modern aesthetic with rounded edges and triple fan setup
  •  Smart RGB that curves along the side bezel of the card
  •  Dependable IceStorm cooling solution
Reasons to Avoid
  • Price high for some users, and not many extra features added
  •  You can’t change the color of the RGB without specific Zotac software

Should you want to buy an RTX 4070 Ti Super with a bit more in terms of features and (arguably) style, Zotac is our second pick. The manufacturer prefers a smoother aerodynamic-inspired casing on some of its graphics cards and that’s more attractive for some. But really in terms of performance and cooling, you can expect a solid experience. Zotac’s IceStorm 3.0 triple-fan system includes deep fans, a hefty heatsink, and 9 composite heat pipes linked to its vapor chamber. That’s a good amount of hardware to get heat dissipated.

All of that is mounted on a rather chic-looking die-cast backplate that’s smartly designed too. And for RGB Fans, the Super Trinity Black Edition looks rather smart…and also offers five-zone RGB lighting should you want it. It’s quite a site to peer upon from outside the case. If we had a flexible budget, we’d opt for this card – and if you can get it for a good price it’s a good choice. But it is a bump up from MSRP.

Should you want to buy an RTX 4070 Ti Super with a bit more in terms of features and (arguably) style, Zotac is our second pick.

Best RTX 4070 ti Super for the money
03
  • A GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card with three WINDFORCE cooling fans.
Specifications
  • GPU: AD103
  • CUDA cores: 8,448
  • VRAM: 16GB GDDR6X
  • Bandwidth: 672.3 GB/s
  • Base clock speed: 2340 MHz
  • Boost clock speed: 2625 MHz
Reasons to Buy
  • You’ve got the option to switch to silent mode for a quieter experience
  •  Solid cooling set up from the Windforce fans
Reasons to Avoid
  •  Lacks visual identity, and is quite plain aesthetically
  •  OC edition card, but not massive overclock potential at only 2640 MHz (from 2610 MHz)

There’s a good and a bad element in simple styling. On the one hand, if you want to put a graphics card in a case and forget about it it doesn’t matter. On the other side, if you’re spending $799 then you may want a bit of a ‘look’. It’s not everything, but we can’t quite decide whether Gigabyte’s RTX 4070 Ti Super Windforce OC is okay or a bit uninspiring.

Not that aesthetics matter more than performance, and we’ve no doubt this is a good option for just above the $799 4070 Ti Super recommended at $829. Gigabyte is an established partner, with a record of delivering stable takes on Nvidia reference designs. Similarly, its Windforce cooling is reliable, augmented by a ‘3D Stripe’ fan design for airflow, alternate spinning fans, and an ample heatsink to keep the card running without issue.

Gigabyte’s metal backplate is sturdy and has a clear ‘screen cooling area’ too, which allows air pass-through from the heatsink through the card for greater heat dissipation. There are 8 copper heat pipes to aid in cooling too.

The fact we’re talking about cooling so much means there’s not much else to focus on in terms of features. However, if you’re keen on a card Gigabyte calls “Excellent In Essential” this could be the card for you.

  • A high-performance PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card with four cooling fans.
Specifications
  • GPU: AD103
  • CUDA cores: 8,448
  • VRAM: 16GB GDDR6X
  • Bandwidth: 672 (GB/sec)
  • Memory bus width: 256-bit
  • Base clock speed: 2340 MHz
  • Boost clock speed: 2655 MHz
Reasons to Buy
  • Overclock speeds reach 2655 MHz, higher than the Gigabyte one for the same price
  •  Flashy RGB strips for those who prioritize PC aesthetics
  •  Includes DisplayPort and HDMI outputs for expanded connectivity
Reasons to Avoid
  •  No DisplayPort 2.0 support is a missed opportunity
  •  It’s got stiff competition from the other 4070 Ti Super variants

Last up, we’ve got the PNY RTX 4070 Ti Super, another overclocked card that offers an excellent price-to-performance ratio – in fact, one that might rival that of the previous Gigabyte 4070 Ti Super we just looked at. The extra boost definitely makes a difference in comparison to non-OC models, and with a higher overclock speed than other editions, this PNY 4070 Ti Super stands out amongst the rest. This specific variant has a base clock speed of 2340 MHz, and a boost speed of 2655 MHz, a mark higher than the 2640 MHz of the Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Super Windforce OC. This does mean it’s a touch more expensive, coming in at $849.99, so $50 more than the recommended $799 price point.

So, you can see that you’re getting a lot of power for your money. However, with so much at your disposal with this card, it could be said that not including a DisplayPort 2.0 input might have been a bit of a missed opportunity. DisplayPort 2.0 almost trebles the maximum data of DisplayPort 1.4 cables, meaning that you might have been able to push your 4070 Ti Super beyond the limits of 4K to even higher resolutions. Of course, you might need the best monitor for the 4070 Ti Super to unlock this potential.

If you want to stick to budget as much as possible, you’ve also got the option of going for the PNY GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB Verto, which drops in clock speed and features LED instead of RGB, but loses the $50 to come straight in at $799. All these cards face fierce competition thanks to the Radeon RX 7900 XT price drop, and if you’re interested in the competition from Team Green, we’ve compared the 4070 Ti Super vs the RX 7900 XT to see how they go head to head.

Features and considerations

So, now that you’ve weighed in on the card options we’ve provided, it’s time to dig into the final few features and considerations you need to check in on to make sure you’re getting the perfect pairing for your setup. Here, we’re looking more specifically at power usage and price.

Power usage

While Nvidia will have its own specs for the FE model, some partner cards may require more power wattage or additional power connectors, so it’s always worth bearing this in mind. For example, the Zotac model recommends a power supply of at least 700W, whereas overclocked models such as the Gigabyte one will be a bit more demanding, and hence ask for a 750W PSU. In general though, as per Nvidia’s guidance, the 4070 Ti Super will draw approximately 285W as a maximum, and therefore you’ll need a PSU of at least 700W. It’s worth noting that this is the same recommended PSU as the 4070 Ti, and connects to your power supply with the same 16-pin 12VHPWR cable: however, if you do have an older supply, you’ll require an adapter to allow the two older 8-pin GPU power cables to power the newer card.

Luckily, we’ve done some of the hard work for you in sourcing the best PSU for the RTX 4070 Ti Super, which can be a great starting point if you need to upgrade.

Price

Weighing in on the nitty-gritty details is important as it directly correlates to price: for example, if you need to invest in a new PSU for your card, and a new case because you’ve ordered one that’s too big, you can easily end up adding hundreds of more dollars to your total. What’s more, some partner cards, such as those made by MSI or Gigabyte, will cost different amounts. Of course, the price will also be impacted by the number of additional features, such as overclocking, RGB lighting, an extra HDMI port, or oodles of style, so you need to carefully consider exactly what you want from your card, and what you’re willing to sacrifice, in order to keep as close to the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) as possible.

If you’re on a completely inflexible budget, it could be worth taking a look at our picks of the best GPUs under $400 to make sure you’re keeping yourself covered for any hidden costs, such as a new PSU, cooler, or investing in one of the best CPUs for the RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Finally, enjoy!

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the process of picking the card you want and looking forward to getting it up and running. Before you purchase your card, ensure you’re happy with the mix of features, value and space required and you’ll enjoy the new purchase all the more.

Which RTX 4070 Ti Super should I choose?

It depends on what you need. If you’re not keen on features or RGB that you won’t need, then a standard model at the recommended price of $799 could well be for you. If you can afford to spend a bit more, then make sure you get the card you really want.

Our verdict

We’ve opted for the Asus TUF Gaming Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super as our best RTX 4070 Ti Super graphics card. It’s a smart and impressive-looking card, that’s available for as good a price as you could currently hope for with the new arrival. It’s the card we’d opt for for our own system, but if we wanted something with a bit more style with a bigger budget we’d opt for the Zotac option. There are two cards here available for $799, and the Gigabyte card is a solid option for sure too.

Ultimately, it comes down to what specific features you value in your graphics card, and the main purpose of your PC overall – are you looking specifically for overclocking for 4K gaming? Go with the OC edition. Are you looking for style over substance? Well, go for the flashiest RGB card you can find. What we’ve provided is a solid starting point for your own individual research for finding the perfect 4070 Ti Super pairing for your system.
