It’s yet again the time of year to take a look at some brand-new releases from Apple as we track down the latest on the Apple iPad Pro OLED 2024 release date. On top of that, we’ve gathered up everything we know about the specs and price. Two new models are expected – the 12.9″ iPad Pro 7th generation iPad Pro 11″ 5th generation, at least going off Apple’s latest models.
The good news is that there isn’t very long to wait at all. Going off previous predictions, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman originally said that the new OLED iPad Pro would launch at the end of March, or in April 2024. Now we can safely say this is no longer the case, we’re going to have to wait an extra month of so. We explain all the exact details just below.
Apple iPad Pro OLED 2024 release date predicted
Despite being slightly off the mark (no pun intended) last time, Mark Gurman remains a reliable source for new Apple tech, and he has recently reported on Bloomberg that Apple plans for the new iPad Pro to launch in May. He goes on to explain that Apple’s oversea suppliers have ramped up production in preparation. Both new iPad Pro and iPad Air devices are mentioned, with the former adopting new OLED displays for the latest generation.
In Mark’s Power On newsletter, he suggests that “you can circle early May in your calendar” – with a launch for May 6th predicted. That likely relates to the initial announcement, with pre orders going live later on in the week. We’re going to keep up to date with the status of the new iPad Pro OLED as much as possible moving forward.
Are Apple iPad Pro 2024 pre orders available yet?
There aren’t any details regarding pre orders for the new Apple iPad Pro OLED just yet. As per the current release date predictions, the 2024 line-up (including Apple iPad Air) could be announced and/or launched as soon as May 6th, so we’re holding out until then. Apple is most likely going to run pre orders for both the expected 12.9″ and 11″ models starting later on in that week from their official store.

There are a few things already more of less confirmed about the upcoming 2024 Apple iPad Pro, though we’ll have to stick to calling them rumored for now. One of the biggest revelations is that the newest iPad Pro is reportedly making the shift to OLED. 9to5Mac reports that code within the iPadOs 17.5 beta released to developers makes reference to these unreleased tablets.
Additionally, they suggest (referencing DSCC) that the pushback to launch day relates to OLED suppliers Samsung and LG, especially when it comes to the larger 12.9″ model, which currently uses a mini-LED panel. In contrast, the new iPad Air devices are likely sticking to LCD. There is also reference to a new Apple Pencil which could be compatible with the new iPads.
MacRumors add some additional details to think about such as a new position for the front-facing camera on the side. This will work better when using the tablet in a landscape orientation, ideal when attached with a stand and peripheral such as Apple’s Magic Keyboard.
Apple iPad Pro 2024 price estimate
As far as pricing goes, not much will be known until Apple officially announce the 2024 Apple iPad Pro OLED. Current rumors point towards the new OLED display adding somewhat of a price premium, but predictions vary. Straight away, we can take a look at the pricing of the current 2022 models, as Apple skipped 2023 as far as iPad launches go:

- Current 12.9-inch iPad Pro: from $1,099
Korean outlet The Elec suggest that the newer OLED models could see a price increase of more than 60%. That makes for a massive jump up to $1,500 and $1,800 for the 11″ and 12.9″ models respectively, even higher than some MacBooks. Other sources are a little more optimistic, so we’ll have to wait and see how the price pans out.
Will the new Apple iPad be OLED?
Yes, according to current reports, the 2024 Apple iPad will be upgrading to OLED. LG and Samsung are reported to be supplying Apple with 12.9″ and 11.1″ panels to make the upgrade. The current generation instead uses Apple’s LCD Liquid Retina display and mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPads respectively.
Has Apple announced the new 2024 iPad Pro?
Not quite yet, but we expect Apple to announce the latest range of iPads early on in May 2024. This goes for both iPad Pro and iPad Air models, with upgrades all round. Apple skipped on refreshing these back in 2023, but it looks like the new Pro model is going to be worth the wait and a contender for the best large-screen tablet to date.
